capitol hill

Delilah has been an early childhood educator for seven years, working with infants through Pre-K. In her role as lead Pre -K teacher at Capitol Hill she works to ensure children are prepared for kindergarten by creating a fun, nurturing, creative environment where students develop confidence, compassion and community.  Her curriculum incorporates a variety of learning styles recognizing that, no matter how old you are, we all absorb information in our own unique way.

Delilah grew up in rural Oregon and attended the University of Oregon where she earned a degree in Journalism.  A life-long learner, she later moved to Seattle and earned a certificate in multi- media production from the University of Washington and worked in advertising and marketing for many years.  During that time she volunteered at the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club eventually serving two terms as President of their Board of Directors.  Her experience tutoring and creating an enriching environment for children and teens led her to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education at North Seattle College.  She and her husband of 23 years raised two children, now 19 and 21. She enjoys traveling the world, gardening, doing anything around water and messing around with clay.

Julia Leichman
assistant Teacher, waddler
capitol hill

Julia enjoys watching and helping our youngest students learn and grow during their first year at Harvard Avenue School. She has been assisting in the toddler classroom since the summer of 2014. A love of French language has evolved into teaching basic vocabulary to the class during afternoon circle times (which gives her a fun excuse to break out her many toy animals collected during years of working in locally owned educational toy stores). She loves being able to take time getting to know each student: reading a book with them, creating creatures out of play dough, or making them laugh.

Julia grew up in Eastern and Western Washington and graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Drama. In her free time she loves to travel, practice yoga, take long walks, sing, write, draw, dance, walk a tightrope, listen to music, and spend time with herhusband, family, and friends.
