If my child attends your Madison Park program will he/she automatically be admitted to your Capitol Hill School. |
Children coming from our toddler program will be given priority enrollment in the Capitol Hill program. Space available in certain schedules (MWF or T/TH) may vary but we will make every effort to accommodate your requests for the various programs that we have to offer. |
How old are the children in your programs? |
The toddler program in Madison Park is appropriate for children 18 months to 2 ½ on Tuesdays and Thursdays and children 2 ½ - 3 years old in the Monday/Wednesday/Friday group. The Capitol Hill preschool class is for children who are two and a half ( and potty trained ) to four years old. The pre-kindergarten students are all four and five years old. The students MUST be four by September first to be admitted to the pre-k class. |
Does my child need to be potty trained to attend your program? |
Children in the Madison Park program do not need to be potty trained. We are able to accept children in diapers and assist with potty training at this location. Children do need to be fully potty trained prior to enrolling in the preschool and Pre-kindergarten program. |
Will you help my child to use the toilet? |
We will assist your child to use the toilet in our Madison Park program. Children in the Capitol Hill program are encouraged to help themselves but we will continue to offer assistance as needed. Capitol Hill students should be able to wipe their own bottoms after using the toilet. Please work on this skill at home prior to enrolling your child in the Capitol Hill program. |
How many children are there in each class? How many teachers? |
The toddler class has ten students with two teachers (5 to 1 ratio); the preschool class has up to eighteen students a day with three teachers (6 to 1 ratio). The pre-kindergarten class has up to 21 students with three teachers daily (7 to 1 ratio). |
How does the pick up and drop off work? |
Parents in the Madison Park School should park in the neighborhood legally (do not double park, block neighboring driveways, etc.), walk their child into school, sign him/her in, and greet the teacher.
At our Capitol Hill school parents pull into one of our five loading zone spaces and the staff will come to your car to escort your child in to the school. If parents would like to walk their child in or come in for a visit they are asked to either park on the street, in a nearby lot, or to wait until after drop off is complete before they park in the school load zone areas. |
Do you take field trips? |
The toddler program and preschool classes do not typically take field trips due to the variety of days that children attend school. The pre-kindergarten class usually takes four field trips a year. |
What are the hours of each program? |
All programs run four hours a day in the morning. Each program begins at either 8:45 am (concluding at 12:45 pm) or 9:00 am (concluding at 1:00 pm). |
Is there any extended care? |
We do not offer extended care. There may be periodic workshops such as science camp, music, or dance available after school if parents wish to enroll their child. |
